vcook is a free, open-source site where groups learn subjects such as robotics, SAT prep and music, with a mentor guiding each step. This page explains, in plain words, what it stores about you.

What we store

  • Your name and email address, and a password (stored scrambled, never readable).
  • Which team you are on and whether you are a mentor or a mentee.
  • Your progress: skills assigned to you, quiz scores and answers, and sign-offs with any note a mentor wrote.
  • If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google. We do not ask for anything else, such as your contacts or files.

What we do not do

  • No ads and no tracking or analytics cookies.
  • We never sell or share your information.
  • The only cookie keeps you signed in.

Who can see it

Mentors on your team can see your progress so they can help you. Other teams cannot see anything about you. This is enforced by the database, not just hidden in the page.

Where it lives

Your data is stored with Supabase (the database and sign-in) and the site is served by Vercel, both in the United States.

Age

vcook is made for students about 13 and older. If you are under 13, please do not create an account.

Removing your data

A mentor can remove you from the team at any time. To have your account and its data deleted completely, ask the person who runs vcook.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top will change too.
